Reducing Consumerism

Reducing our consumption is the best way to help our environment stay clean and healthy. Yes! I know it’s hard, but not impossible. What we really need is motivation! and trust me there are plenty ways we can gain motivation. I really liked an environmental documentary called Trashed written and directed by British filmmaker, Candida Brady. The film unveils huge environmental and health problems caused by excess of waste on earth. Oscar winning actor, Jeremy Irons, teamed up with Brady to participate in the film and narrate the script. He takes us onto different places of the world to discover the truth about waste disposal on the planet. I think watching environmental documentaries is a great way to inspire or persuade others to think outside the box. By having visuals shown to us we are more likely to change our behavior instead of someone telling us.

Throughout the weekend, I took the time to read a few articles on ways to reduce consumerism. There are plenty articles out there that are trying to get more people to join the Zero Waste life in many parts of the world. What I love about these two articles was the fact that there are easy to ready and go straight to the point. One of them is very informative but trust me I feel like you can get to know a lot of new things about this topic. I also watched the Trashed documentary once again because it is very powerful in my opinion and I would love for others to watch it and share! Unfortunately the documentary is only available through ITunes but it is not expensive to rent. I will still post the link for those who are interested J

Some ways to help us reduce our consumption are…

1.Recycle

2.Grow your own food (Yes it is possible)

3.Buy things that will last longer! (So you don’t have to continuously buy more) And to find out more ways to help the environment check out these articles below and I definitely recommend the documentary.
